I truly have a love-hate relationship with AI. I love way it enhances and refines work by adding clarity and structure. However, I hate the reliance that it’s creating for many people to complete mundane tasks. It also has real potential to stupefy new generations. Nonetheless, AI should be used to advance us, not regress us.
My sorority competed in and won the 2025 Step Show, where our theme was Pirates of the Caribbean. I created the intro video for our performance by combining both AI-generated and self-edited content. Using CapCut, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere Pro, and TikTok, I edited and compiled visuals, sound effects, music, and transitions into a cohesive final product. I also used Sora AI to generate select pirate-themed clips that enhanced the storytelling and atmosphere of the video. While AI helped generate portions of the content, the creative direction, editing, and final production were driven by my own technical and artistic skills.
I use AI as a resource to strengthen my academic performance and deepen my understanding of course material. For my MEJO 340 final exam, I uploaded my class notes into Claude and prompted it to create a practice test based on the concepts we covered throughout the semester. This allowed me to engage with the material in a more critical and application-based way, which better prepared me for the structure and expectations of the actual exam. Using AI in this way helped me study more efficiently while reinforcing my comprehension of complex topics.
VIEW MY PRACTICE TESTI created the “Explore Space” website with only a beginner-level understanding of HTML and CSS, using AI as a collaborative learning tool throughout the development process. By working alongside Claude, I learned how to implement more advanced design features, including a parallax scrolling effect on the history page and CSS-only pop-up animations on the facts page without relying on JavaScript. AI helped guide me through understanding and applying new lines of code, while I used my own problem-solving and creativity to design and build the website experience.
